RAW vs JPEG

  1. One of the biggest differences between RAW and JPEG is that RAW’s image quality is much higher than jpegs because they are unprocessed or minimally processed, while JPEG files undergo various modifications that may reduce the image quality.
  2. RAW’s files are bigger than JPEG files, since they basically save all the data of the picture. while jpeg discards some data to create a smaller file size.
  3. Yes you actually can change your RAW file into a JPEG. You can either use a website online or a photo editing app/ software. All you have to do is, open the raw image, click on the file options, then just simply save your image as a JPEG file.
  4. When shooting important events, even though a RAW file has better image quality than JPEG, you would still end up with a JPEG file since either way, after editing your photos you would still end up with a JPEG file. So I was shooting an important even I would shoot it as a JPEG, because not only would it be considered a waste of time to shoot it as a RAW, but it would also be quicker to edit and process between devices, such as from your camera to your computer.
