HDR PHOTOGRAPHY

HDR MEANING AND RESULT STEPS!

  • HDR stands for High Dynamic Range and is a technique that expresses details in content in both very bright and very dark scenes.
  • Ways to achieve HDR photography is to take multiple shots of the same scene with just focusing and exposing on certain parts of the landscape for each photograph you take till everything you want is clear in at least one photo.
  • Then you then edit all the pictures together to get the desired photograph.

HDR PHOTOGRAPH & CRITIQUE!

10 sentences to describe the process of hdr. The process of HDR is a short one if you do it correctly. First, you’d need a tripod in order to shoot 5 pictures, making them the exact same just darker and lighter with each shot. Then you’ll need a clear landscape to shoot, one without any people would be great. Be sure you have enough clouds in the shot since they look better in HDR. HDR looks saturated so make sure the landscape has enough colors so when you edit it them, they POP. After you’re done shooting you go inside, download your images and edit them in photoshop. You merge them together in HDR pro and being saturating each color INDIVIDUALLY to see what looks best. You can even bring in clouds from the internet to make the image look better. After all the editing and when you decide the photo looks good you save it, upload it to the blog and done.

PHOTOJOURNALISM: CANDID MOMENTS WITH CAPTIONS

Shoot like Aaron Siskind

Aarond Siskind’s work is mostly abstract images in black n’ white, most of his work was to with nature and architecture, as well as texture. Aarond Siskind also took some photos of human forms as well. In my opinion, Aaron Siskind’s work is really nice to look at, his black n’ white photos make you wonder what they actually are and what he took the picture of, the way how his photos aren’t just black and white, but also have gray tones as well, making his work all the more enjoyable.

Commerical Photography

This advertisement caught my attention because it is really pretty with the matching blue background and the little ad ins on the floor of the products, as well as the sparkles.
The kitkat ad caught my attention because of how they were able to catch the crumbs before they hit the floor and how the catch phrase just brings it all together.
The reason this jeep advertisement caught my attention is because it because of how the shadow of the car is another colored version of it, and how lightings are different in the shadows then in real time.

  1. The client/ company I am representing are, Crocs.
  2. The product I am shooting is crocs dc inspired batman shoes.
  3. The target audience are teens and young adults who are DC fans.
  4. I expect to see this advertisement online.
  5. I am going to use stroke lighting in my photo.
  6. All the props I might need would be a white background with somewhat dark setting.

Introduction to using strobes

  1. Moonlight strobes have a limit for their power due to their size.
  2. when shooting outside, use a high-powered strobe to overcome the natural sunlight.
  3. Most lights, regardless of the brand or model, provide heads that come in the form of a strobe surrounded by a reflector.
  4. Reflecting umbrellas produce a diffused and soft light due to the larger size of the reflecting surface. They are mounted in such a way that the strobe light is actually facing away from the subject or model.
  5. Silver-lined umbrellas are the most efficient and can focus light more narrowly than the other types. White umbrellas offer a wider spread of reflected light, and gold umbrellas produce a warm tone.
  6. Light emitted from the strobe head gets reflected inside the walls of the soft box and diffused through the box’s translucent front creating a soft, but more focused light source illuminating the model or scene.
  7. With an umbrella on the other hand, light can spill beyond the boundaries of the reflective surface affecting the amount of light getting back to the subject. Spilled light can also hit walls and ceilings indoors causing it to reflect and bounce all over the place. An umbrella simply isn’t as controllable as a soft box.
  8. Snoots are conical shaped tools that narrow the distribution of light, they are often used like a spotlight or to light the background.
  9. Barn doors are flaps surrounding a strobe that can be opened or closed to control the light and prevent it from spilling.
  10. Flags are another type of light modifiers. A flag is any kind of opaque object placed in the way of light to better direct it, to prevent lens flare or to prevent it from spilling.

Warhol/ PopArt critique

  1. What is pop art? Pop art is a form of art based on modern popular culture and the mass media, especially as a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values.
  2. Why is this artist considered Pop art? Keith Haring’s artwork is often described as pop art and emerged from the New York City graffiti subculture of the 1980s.
  3. Keith Harings work would usually consist of his trademark line drawings, his work doesn’t actually follow a pattern. All of his famous pieces are just a bunch of line mashed together to great anything you may see.
  4. I picked this artist because I really enjoy looking at his pieces, I like Keith’s work because of how full it is. No matter where you look, you’ll almost never see a blank spot unless intended. His trademark line drawings never get old, and you just can’t look away, sure it’s just clashed all together, but it really makes the piece all the better.

RAW vs JPEG

  1. One of the biggest differences between RAW and JPEG is that RAW’s image quality is much higher than jpegs because they are unprocessed or minimally processed, while JPEG files undergo various modifications that may reduce the image quality.
  2. RAW’s files are bigger than JPEG files, since they basically save all the data of the picture. while jpeg discards some data to create a smaller file size.
  3. Yes you actually can change your RAW file into a JPEG. You can either use a website online or a photo editing app/ software. All you have to do is, open the raw image, click on the file options, then just simply save your image as a JPEG file.
  4. When shooting important events, even though a RAW file has better image quality than JPEG, you would still end up with a JPEG file since either way, after editing your photos you would still end up with a JPEG file. So I was shooting an important even I would shoot it as a JPEG, because not only would it be considered a waste of time to shoot it as a RAW, but it would also be quicker to edit and process between devices, such as from your camera to your computer.
